En LAVOSI, nos impulsa un único objetivo: brindar diversas opciones educativas a los niños sordos del departamento de Sacatepéquez. Nuestro proceso de toma de decisiones se basa en las necesidades integrales de educación y formación profesional de nuestros niños sordos en Jocotenango y Antigua. Nos esforzamos por construir relaciones productivas con las comunidades y generar un impacto positivo en el futuro de todos nuestros niños sordos.

Here at LAVOSI, we are driven by a single goal; to provide various choices of education for the Deaf children in the department of Sacatepéquez. Our decision making process is informed by comprehensive needs of education and vocational training for our Deaf children in Jocotenango and Antigua. We strive to build productive relationships with the communities and make a positive future impact with all of our Deaf children.

LAVOSI wants to spread our message of hope and compassion. We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the greater good.

Making A Difference
LAVOSI se dedica a transformar vidas. El trabajo que realizamos en nuestra escuela busca brindar un entorno seguro para abordar algunos de los mayores desafíos de nuestra sociedad. Nos aseguramos de empoderar a nuestros socios creando oportunidades para las personas sordas y sus comunidades.

LAVOSI is in the business of changing and shaping lives. The work we do at our school is aimed at providing a safe and secure approach and environment to solving some of our society’s biggest challenges. We make sure our partners are empowered by creating opportunities for deaf individuals and its communities.
Classes
Ofrecemos instrucción para personas sordas en diversas materias. También impartimos clases de primero a sexto grado; la edad varía según el nivel de habilidad de cada alumno. Se imparten cursos académicos, incluyendo Lengua de Señas Guatemalteca (LSG) e inglés (quinto y sexto grado).

We provide instruction for deaf individuals in various subjects. We also teach grades 1 to 6, age varies depends on their skill levels. Academic courses are taught, including Guatemalan Sign Language (LSG) and English (Grade 5-6).

Events
At LAVOSI, we also teach our students about society and culture and are involved in national and community celebrations and activities, that promote an understanding of and cooperation with the world we live in. We also participate in fundraising events, soccer tournaments and celebrations, like Day of the Deaf, Carnaval, Day of the Earth, Independence Day, etc. We believe that through cooperation and partnerships, we can facilitate progress and empowerment for our students and their community.
We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to do so with us. You can support LAVOSI as a volunteer, intern, donor or create other forms of partnerships with us.
Deaf Culture
At LAVOSI, the school environment is much different from their home. There are many hands moving around, laughter unheard, but seen afar. Younger to older, signing and playing together like nowhere else can tell them to not sign. The vibes feel free around the school with no boundaries. At LAVOSI, they strive to be themselves, learn about being Deaf and the culture forming around them. Signing, stomping the floor or flashing the lights, laughing aloud, exchanging information about job opportunities, and get together after school are all parts of their Deaf culture.
